Day two South Africa

Now that I can post pictures I have a lot of catching up to do. Don't worry, I've been taking notes. On Thursday, Day 2, we went for a drive around the cape peninsula. Our first stop was at a beach in Muizenberg. We saw two rows of men pulling a large net in from the ocean we asked one of the men what they were hoping was in the net. The man said that they were just hoping and praying the something was in it. We started to help pull in the net and soon a lot of people off of the beach came to help. Unfortunately there was not much in the net. A few ray, which were thrown back and only an arm full of other fish. We met an 8 year old boy named Keamin who was helping to pull in the net. So cute.

This is a St. Joseph's Shark. It has a spine on it's head that is venomous. The fisherman pulled the shark form the net, tore off it venomous spine and stabbed it the the head. He said it came with it's own euthanizing kit.

Next we went to Boulder Beach in Simons Town to see the African penguins. Then we headed to Cape Point. The point at which it is said the Atlantic Ocean meets the Indian Ocean, but technically they meet about 100 mi to the East of there. We had lunch at Cape Point out on the deck over looking the Ocean. The color of the water here is unreal. It is such a beautiful place.

We ended the day having dinner on the beach and watching the sunset.
