I wish I had my video camera running last Wednesday night when we told the kids we were having another baby. Shock and then total excitement, followed by some of the funniest comments and questions.
McKay- When Abby and Bryce are teaching the baby stuff, I'll hold the baby so it doesn't run away.
McKay-You already went to the Dr. one time to get the baby put in your tummy.
Gracie- I wish we knew if the baby was a boy or a girl, cuz I don't like just calling it, "it". I think we should call it peanut.
Nate-I hope this one likes me.
McKay- If the baby is the size of a grape, if it gets hungry it could just eat it's self.
Abby- I hope it's a girl but if it's a boy I'll still like it, cuz I got used to McKay.
I know there were lots more but alas, I cannot remember.
My favorite comment though was from Sam, after seeing the kids pure excitement, he said "we did the right thing."
I was super glad that he thought so because I was feeling like crap and was starting to wonder.
We found out on Dec 23rd when I peed on a stick and saw the faintest hint of a second pink line. Sam happened to be on the phone at the time booking a family cruise for next October. I came out of the bathroom and said cancel it I'm pregnant. This was totally planned, but after trying for one whole month and thinking that it hadn't happened I decided that I wanted to wait until next August. There were lots of things I wanted to do this summer that I can't do pregnant, including going back to Africa, but apparently those things were not meant to be and this baby was. So to answer a few of the most commonly asked questions: Yes, this was planned. No, we will not be having any more after this. We are done, done, done! Yes, I realize there will be an almost 6 year gap between McKay and the baby. No, it doesn't bother me enough to have another one. Yes, I'm totally sick. No, not just in the morning, all frickin day. No, I do not enjoy being pregnant in the slightest. Yes, it's all worth it in the end. I'm due September 2. Anything else, feel free to ask. I don't mind. And I'll really try not to complain too much about how I feel because I know how very blessed I am.
My brother Carson and his wife Chelsi are expecting their first baby, a girl, on March 3rd. Burke and Nicky are expecting their 5th child, 1st girl in May, and Trent and Kacey are expecting their 3rd on September 3rd, just one day after me. It's a super exciting year for babies in my family. These four new babies will make 17 grand kids for my parents and ours will make 21 for Sam's parents. We announced the big news to our parents by mailing them newborn onesies with either a #17 or #21 on them and included a blurry ultrasound picture. I think they were all very surprised and happy.
I go in for another ultrasound on the 15th of this month so I hope to have a better picture of the peanut to share with you soon.

That was a great post, I loved it. I had my six in 8 years, not voluntarily, birth control didn't work. I had to have a hysterectomy after Rachel. Since I started with two, I never had a chance to really enjoy watching all of the growth and development, I feel I really missed out. When I was 42, if I could have had another baby I would have. It was the first time I was baby hungry since I was first married. Enjoy the moments! I know I would. Not the sick, yuck, pregnancy (I was deathly ill from conception to birth), but the baby!
Congrats, Natalie! I was a bonus baby that came 5 years after the baby, and I had a a wonderfully spoiled childhood. I wouldn't trade being the baby for anything. Also, It's pretty nice to be able to whine about turning 30 to them right now...
Now you can put one of those baby tickers on your blog, instead of/in addition to to running one! Fun story and what an exciting time for your family!
Oh I'm so excited for you guys! Jonah is 6 years younger than Max: it has been so much fun for our whole family. I can't say enough positive things about what it has meant for our family to add this new little guy: it has made everyone softer, pulled us closer together, brought so much joy and laughter. I was ready for it to be really hard to have a new baby after a space (but worth it in the long run) but it has been really awesome, easier than I thought, and worth it NOW! Congrats, you rock: enjoy!
Congratulations!!! We can't wait to meet the new addition!!!
Jack and Addi are six years apart and I just love it. It really is the last of the great blessings (till grands, and i'm happy to wait for that) that you get to have time to cherish and enjoy and absolutely soak it up. So happy for you!!
Congrats Tenny family! I'm so glad the kids are all excited!
Congrats Natalie! What exciting news.
Exciting!! Congratulations!! :) Sam and Luke are 5+ years apart, and it has seriously been SO great!
Awesome news! I think every baby is a blessing, no matter when he/she comes, so enjoy it! Hope you get feeling better. Best wishes to all. Shae
