Nate's Birthday

This is my birthday boy! 12 years one hour and 10 minutes ago, I became a mom! I so clearly remember that moment. I can believe that little boy is now a young man. Today after stake conference we met with our bishop and Nate received the Aaronic Pristhood. He was ordained to the office of a deacon by his awesome dad. His grandpa Rey and Bishop Ray Gorze stood in as well. He looked so handsome in his suit, his "birthday suit" as Abby called it. He's a great kid and we are so blessed to have him in our family. In addition to the suit, which I'm sure was his favorite gift, he also got two Dan Brown books, Zelda for the wii, a Pokemon DS game and a video recorder. I think he had a pretty good day but then after his bath tonight he couldn't find any clean under ware and he went to bed grouchy. I can't win!

I have some good news and some bad news and it's the very same news. McKay is now totally 100% sleeping in his own bed. At bed time he just goes and gets in bed then he just stays there all night. It's so weird. It needed to happen at some point and he is 4 so it's probably time and of course we are all sleeping better but I really miss him. Last night I so very much wanted to go get his little sleeping self out of his bed and put him in mine. But did I mention that we are all sleeping better, which is oh so very lovely. I'm just going to have to force him to snuggle me more during the day to make up for it, which he doesn't seem to mind.

Abby made her first basket of the season today!!! I was so excited for her. She tries so hard and is really tough on defence. Her girl never gets past her. On offence she doesn't see much action and is super timid. She rarely takes a shot so it was so fun for her to score. It was a close game 16 to 14 and only the second game her team has won. She has really improved from the first of the season and it's great to see her confidence grow.

I can't believe how big these girls are getting, and beautiful! They love the Daddy Daughter Ball and had a lovely time with their awesome daddy. They had dinner reservations with the Carters at Pegasus. Then they went to the dance. They both said their favorite part of the night was dancing with their dad. Afterwards they went to Dairy Queen for ice cream.

Update

So it turns out I have not yet lost my awesome. I just needed a small rant. After my last post I told the hot wings and the snow to shut it and I went to the gym. Yap, that's how good I am. In all reality though once at the gym I was ready to be done with the treadmill at mile one, but luckily I brought Heather along and she made me do 3, then we went to "Subway, eat fresh" and had a mostly nutritious lunch. I did add some vanilla creamer to my diet Coke, but I think I earned it. So with towel in hand (you remember, the one I was about to throw in just a couple of hours ago) I would like to say thank you to Heather and also to Meg (sorry her blog is private, cuz for real you're missin out) and Mamarazzi for their lovely bloggie comments. I'm for reals so lucky to have such an amazing support system.

HELP

I'm about this close (imagine my thumb and pointer finger held about an inch apart, make that a half an inch) to throwing in the towel on weight watchers and running and all of it. There is a bag of hot wings in the freezer calling my name and about 8 inches of snow outside telling me to just stay home from the gym, wrap up in a warm blanket and sip hot cocoa all day. My will is weakening. Somebody please convince me that all of the hard work is worth it cuz I'm not feelin' it.

Bryce Basketball

Bryce's team has had a little trouble pulling it together this year. They haven't had the best of luck on the scoreboard, but that doesn't slow Bryce down. He has a lot of fun and works really hard. One second he's on one side of the court stealing the ball, he passes to a teammate who shots and the next second there's Bryce on the other side of the court getting the rebound. The boy can hustle! I love that he always does his best and is a good sport no matter what the out come. Plus he's super cute!

Kids Basketball

I have a ton of basketball pics of the kids but I just wanted to start with these. They are all working so hard and have learned a lot. I love watching them play.

School was canceled due to the weather. It is cold enough here for me to believe that possibly hell has frozen over and I'm thinking that it must have because my kids are getting along and doing their chores without being told a million and one times and being yelled at. Maybe it's a Groundhogs Day Eve miracle... or something. Speaking of Groundhogs day, I'm praying that good ol' Phil sees his Shadow tomorrow, or doesn't see his shadow. Which one means that spring is right around the corner? That's the one I want. It's -35 degrees today with the wind chill! Burrrrrrr.
