I love to see the Temple

No end to the joys of Motherhood.

McKay comes to me holding out his finger saying, "mommy, mommy". I assume that he hurt his finger and without paying much attention I bend down and kiss it. As I kiss it, I also smell it. So it turns out that he was not hurt after all he was showing me the poop on his finger. That's right, I kissed the poop.

"Just Stupid"

That's the book that Bryce is reading right now. It's part of a series of books with titles like "Just Joking", "Just Annoying", and "Just Wacky". They are by Andy Griffiths, the best-selling author of "The day my Butt went Psycho!" based on a true story, and the sequel "Zombie Butts from Uranus!" Should I just be glad he is reading?

If you are wondering if "Just Stupid" is the right book for you, there is a quiz inside the front cover to help you find out

Yes or No
Do you push dors marked PULL and pull doors marked Push?
Do you worry about getting sucked into the top of an escalator?
Do you believe a boogeyman hides under your bed?
Do you automatically turn around when somebody yells , "Hey, Stupid"
Do you think that being able to stuff your mouth full of marshmallows is a sign of superior intelligence?

If you answered yes to 3-5 of the questions, you are extremely stupid. You will love this book.
If you answered yes to 1-2 of the questions, you are fairly stupid. You will love this book.
If you answered yes to 0 questions, you think you're really smart, but deep down you're as stupid as the rest of us. You will love this book.

My Gracie Girl

This is Gracie's end of the phone conversation with Sam this morning.

"Heeell-o_ Fa-ler"
"Thank you_ Fa-ler"
"Yes_ Fa-ler"
"k, love ya too, bye"

In case you couldn't guess "Fa-ler" is Father.
She makes me laugh everyday.
She also pushes me to the point of wanting to beat her everyday. That's just Gracie. She is most definitely her own little person with her own unique style. Last week for the school ice cream social she wore pink sweat shorts with mismatched socks pulled up past her knees and a shirt that didn't go with any of it. My mom was with us and I think she was embarrassed for anyone to know that they were related but I thought she looked great. That's just Gracie's style. Personally I think that I'm a super cool mom for allowing her to express her self. Or maybe with her being the forth child I'm just too tired to fight it. Nah. Let's go with the super cool mom.
She is going to be 5 this week and starting Kindergarten in the fall! I can't believe my baby girl is so big.
I remember when she was born the first thing that I noticed was her big squishy lips. She still has squishy lips and gives the best kisses. She was the easiest baby ever. A good sleeper. A good eater. Never cried, even if someone happened to be standing on her (Karen). She was a complete joy. Then she turned about 15 mo., but we are focusing on the positive, so I'll save those stories for another time.
She is a momma's girl and most of the time I love that. She is a great drawer, a great dancer, and great friend.
I love you Gracie Girl!

Our first major snow storm of the winter

Only probablam is...it's Spring! I'm ready to start work on my garden and my yard. Word is we are getting 15 to 30 inches of snow! And being in Castle Rock we will probably be closer to 30 inch end of the range. I don't mind 1 or 2 major snow storms a year but why to they have to come in October and April. What would be wrong with fall acting like fall and winter acting like winter and spring acting like spring. That's Colorado for ya. Three days ago it was in the 60's and I was dressing kids in shorts. Today we were searching for snow boots. It's beautiful, but I'm hoping it doesn't last. Fingers crossed I can start work on my garden next week.

I love this Kid

This is the most fun I've had doing photos, and I'm not just saying that because it's my super adorable baby. In fact he usually makes me crazy when I'm trying to take his picture. He's usually very uncooperative, but not today. He was so stinkin cute. He was loving getting his pictures done and having a great time playing on the bridge. I didn't have to coach him at all. I just let him play and ended up with some amazing shoots. He is such a happy boy and so full of life. Sure, he makes me crazy, but he also brings me so much pure joy.

My Pretty Baby

Okay, one last group of pics and then I'm done. I think the bottom right one is my fav. or maybe the middle one with the hands in the overalls, or maybe the sitting one. I don't know, I love the running one too. He's just too cute.

1,999 things I've learned from being a mom.

I know I'm getting a little blog happy lately, but I wanted a place dedicated to recording the little lessons I've learned in the last 10 years of motherhood.
I've pretty much stopped watching Oprah (I'm so over her!), but today my mom called and told me I should watch. It was all about Motherhood, and it was pretty funny. One lady confessed that while on a road trip, her two children were sleeping in the car, she needed to pee and didn't want to risk waking them up by stopping the car so she pulled a diaper out and peed in the diaper while still driving. I've never gone that far but I can totally relate which is why rule number 2 is "never, never wake a sleeping baby".
Anyway, I'm by no means an expert on parenting and I rarely follow my own rules but I thought it might be fun to list some of the things I've learned from being a mom. So if you would like to check out my new blog go to http://1999thingsivelearned.blogspot.com/ .
If there is something that you have learned from being a mom (or dad) that you would like to share, let me know. If I post it, I'll give you credit for it.
